Mr. Lifton,

Quick question, I have read all of your writings and your recent Seeking Alpha article that LREE producers may be in big trouble once Chinese remediation is over.

I have thought about that a lot recently. One thing that doesn’t make sense to me about your position, is the fact that China has been trying to acquire LREE deposits, namely MCP (through Unocal bid) and Lynas.

Why would the Chinese do that if they have absolutely no need for the ore? They have more know-how than any of these companies in the REE arena. Thus, isn’t only the “ore” the prize with these companies, at least for the Chinese.

If the Chinese are truly looking for LREEs as well as HREEs, then this space is set to move in a major way.

Excellent article.

Imo, the strongest stock to own in regard to upside is MLLOF.PK

MLLOF, Medallion Resources, was formed by William Bird, the highly regarded former REE ceo. He put Rare Earth Resources on the map and then moved on.

Now MLLOF and REE are partners in a very big deal.

Much of the language of the RESTART Act, proposed by Rep. Mike Coffman (R-CO) was included as an amendment to the FY2011 National Defense Authorization Act which was passed in the House earlier this year.

A version of the Act was proposed in the Senate by Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), but with her recent loss in the Republican primary for her Senate seat, the probability of its being included in the Senate version of the FY2011 National Defense Authorization Act (ahead of the two bills being reconciled in conference, assuming the Senate version passes), is now unclear.

Miners, singly or en bloc, don’t have the resources to move Congress on RESTART. But, working together, the domestic corporations who are the eventual end users of refined REE’s and REE-based equipment, certainly do. Intensive lobbying by an industry-wide Council may prevail where the advice of economists and specialists has not. Money makes the mare go, I’ve heard.

You say, “China will then ramp up its production and come roaring back, and kill everyone else in price.”

But I thought your position was that world demand would outstrip world, i.e, Chinese, supply by 2015, and the Chinese would not be able to produce enough to fill worldwide demand, hence the need for non-Chinese production. Are you now saying that China will be able to meet worldwide demand? If so, how?
